How and with what should I clean my carpet?

The correct use of the vacuum cleaner is crucial to cleaning your carpet effectively. If this is possible with your vacuum cleaner model, adjust the suction power so that the condition of your carpet is taken into account. For some vacuum cleaners, the suction power setting is illustrated with illustrations of the thickness and pile height, for example. It is best to use special carpet cleaning nozzles to remove the dirt particularly thoroughly. Remove stains as soon as possible after they appear based on our tips below and have your carpet professionally cleaned for stubborn stains.

Which vacuum cleaner nozzles are suitable for carpeting?

Swirl® offers vacuum cleaner nozzles that are specially designed for cleaning carpets. Our carpet nozzles are characterized by their high dust absorption and effectiveness. But which nozzle is the right one to clean your carpet?

For seamless cleaning, we recommend our Carpet and Hard Floor Reversible Nozzle: With it, a flexible change from carpet to hard floor is possible at any time. It is very practical for vacuuming carpets that lie on hard floors, as is often the case in living rooms. Our Carpet Deep Cleaning Nozzle was developed for short-pile carpets with a pile height of up to 15 mm and is ideal for thorough vacuuming of carpets: Its rotating brush roller removes deep-seated dirt and dust from your carpet.

How often should I vacuum my carpet?

Regular vacuuming is crucial to keep the carpet clean and free of dirt particles. How often you should clean your carpet depends on many factors. For high-traffic areas such as the hallway or if you keep pets, more frequent cleaning is necessary. Our cleaning schedule will help you stay on top of things and ensure that your carpet stays comfortably clean. Here's how often you should clean your carpet:

In the living and dining area:
For families: 1x daily
For 1-2 people in the household: 2x per week

In the hallway:
For families: 1x daily
For 1-2 people in the household: 2x per week

In the bedroom:
1x weekly

In the children's room:
1-3x weekly

How often should I deep clean my carpet?

When cleaning carpets, the frequency of deep cleaning depends on various factors, such as pets, allergies or high frequency of use. We recommend deep cleaning for carpets every six to twelve months to remove deep-seated dirt and stubborn stains. You can deep clean your carpet yourself - for example with a steam cleaner or a washing vacuum cleaner. For very sensitive carpets as well as stubborn or dried stains in the carpet that cannot be removed yourself or if you do not have the equipment to do a deep cleaning yourself, you should have your carpet professionally cleaned. Always treat stains immediately between deep cleaning and vacuum regularly.

Home remedies and tips for removing stains from your carpets

If you want to clean your carpet, pay special attention to stains. If you discover stains on your carpet, remove them shortly after they appear, then the chances are best that you will be able to remove them completely.

The following home remedies come into question when it comes to cleaning your carpet from stains:

  • Mineral water: Put some carbonated mineral water on the stain, wait about 15 minutes and dab the affected area with an absorbent cloth or cloth.

  • Baking soda or baking soda: Dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda or baking soda in a quart of warm water. Spray the carpet generously with the mixture and let it soak in for a few hours before soaking up the dried mixture.

  • Salt: Rub it into the carpet, leave it on for several hours, possibly overnight, and soak it up the next day. Salt is particularly good for removing red wine stains.

  • Vinegar essence: Mix water and vinegar essence in a ratio of 1:1, put it on a cloth and carefully dab the stain with it. After about 30 minutes, wash the affected area again gently but thoroughly with clean water.

  • Shampoo or mild detergent: Mix one tablespoon of shampoo or mild detergent with three liters of water. Apply the mixture to the stains and work it into the carpet with a soft brush. Wash the area a few hours later with a cloth and water.

  • Shaving or carpet foam: Apply the shaving foam to the stain and gently work it in with a dry cloth. After about two hours, brush out the shaving foam with a soft brush. When using carpet foam, follow the instructions.
