Limescale deposits can cause significant problems in many household appliances such as coffee machines, kettles and irons. You should therefore not underestimate the regular descaling of your appliances. This is the only way to maintain the performance of your appliances and extend their service life - this is easy on your wallet and the environment.
First of all, it's important to understand what happens during descaling: You're removing limescale deposits that form inside the equipment. They are caused by hard water that contains high concentrations of minerals such as calcium and magnesium carbonate. These deposits can affect the functionality of your devices and lead to reduced performance.
Regularly removing limescale from your appliances will extend their lifespan and performance. Limescale buildup can clog flow pathways and damage heating elements. This can lead to decreased performance and longer heat-up time. In addition, limescale can have an unpleasant effect on the taste of beverages such as coffee and tea.
The frequency of descaling depends on the type of appliance and the hardness of the water in your area. In areas with hard water, it is usually necessary to take more action against limescale. How often you need to descale your appliances depends on the hardness of the tap water and the frequency of use of the appliance. Frequent use and medium to hard water will require descaling more often than light use and/or soft water. It is important to be aware of the signs of limescale, such as reduced performance and longer heat-up time of the appliances.
There are different types of descalers from Swirl®, including liquid descaler, descaler powder, and descaler tablets. The different descalers are suitable for different devices and tasks:
